magdalene

flats on her feet she pirouettes
ballet avenue
a pastel pedicure, pointed pivot
prance perfect to peddle morning dew
a six inch flame, a tube of glass
sixth grade science, altered state
her shouts carry seconds past
sloppy seconds seconds late
daffodils held by copper stems
powdered petals' purpose pantomime
the flowers on her head, in her head
for your head to shine
the priest she creeps for daily bread
leggings, lace, a martyr's will,
a fresh bouquet of purple and gold,
a million dollar bill.
